Sew A Skater Dress

This is an introduction to dress making. The skater dress is the most basic dress and yet is one of the most flattering timeless styles that compliment all body types.The Skater dress strikes a wonderful balance between casual and smart casual looks which makes it easy to dress down or dress up.

This basic dress is perfect for a introduction to dress making because of the minimum construction required and the simplicity of the patterns e.g minimal sewing seams: a simple bodice and a flared skirt. Of course you can add sleeves. You can also decide on whether you want a round or v neck neckline, a low back or not, halter neck or 3cm wide shoulder straps etc. The waist seam can be lowed or raised to compliment your waist and the skirt length can also be adjust to your comfort level.The possibilities are endless!

In this class you will receive guidance on how to make the adjustments you want using existing patterns. Step by step instruction and reinforcing of why we do this and that so that you can confidently make 10 more of this amazing dress ready for the summer ahead!

This class runs for 2.5 hours each class for 2 weeks. Please book 2 consecutive slots at the check out.

Please bring your own fabric; a jersey material for stretch and sewing tool kit every session. Calico and materials for your garment are at the individuals cost.

Additional sewing kits, supplies, tools and fabrics are available for purchase on site.

Due to limited spaces, all sewing lessons are final and cancellations will result in forfeit of payment. Bookings are strictly NON transferable to other class dates. Please check dates before making your sewing class bookings as there can be NO exceptions.

  • You will need to be acquainted with the sewing machine; sewing a straight line, threading etc. The very first lesson is learning the sewing machine and sewing practice exercises.

    If you are not familiar with the sewing machine please take a private Sewing For Beginners class before program to get you up to speed.
